Renaissance
Wow, four months. Um... sorry?
Well, you know, jobs and school and such happened, and here we are, on the eve of NaNoWriMo.
Also, in case you missed the news bulletin, I have finally completed Home Again. :)
To mark the reopening of this blog, here are two poems I did for senior English class that I rather liked. Make of them what you will.
The Lady in the Palace
Her hands are so delicate
You'd thought they'd be strong
But they're doll's hands, perfect
Like everything here.
Look closer, they're trembling
And she's trying to hide it
By subtly adjusting
Her dress and her hair.
She staring out the window
At a city from legend--
Floating on waterfalls,
Dancing on air.
Who do you think of,
And what are you hiding,
And what do you see
When you're gazing out there?
She looks up and answers
In a voice low and perfect,
In a Palace of marble
And glass high and clear,
"I'm watching the water,
How it falls down forever,
And I'm thinking of nothing."
She's hiding her fear.
Untitled
She held her life in her own hands
As if it were a baby bird
Frail and small and set apart
Sheltered from the raging storm
Which closed around her without pause
Darkness coming ever on
To chase her, break her, but she saw
In that one moment all her life
And knew that it was hers alone
To keep in secret in her hands
Or with a sigh of dying grace
Loose and let it fly away.
